Kekova Island a fantastic place to visit
Most Kas properties have stunning views
Plenty of fish in the blue waters of Kas bay
Many people who visit Kas like to take advantage of different trips and excursions. Sometimes these are simply boat trips to places such as Kekova or the Greek Island Meis or historical and interest trips to places like Saklikent Gorge or Myra. Others may want to go diving, paragliding or take part in another activity. There are quite a few travel agencies in Kas who can provide the holidaymaker with information and book them onto excursions. You can find them dotted around the town or check the Travel Agent pages here.
“Decided to take an organised day trip - very unusual for us! - out on the water, to visit Kekova Island amongst other places. An early start for us, however the harbour was a busy place with plenty of boats heading out either on the Kekoka Island trip, or sailing across to the little Greek island, Kastellorizo (Meis in Turkish). Aboard the boat, we had plenty of swimming stops; a look around the uninhabited Kekova Island, its sunken city (Batikent) swallowed up by rising sea levels; and a visit to Kale (also known as Simena). Here, we climbed the stone stairway to visit the Byzantine fortress, built by the Knights of St John. Sat awhile having a gorgeous barbecue lunch and salad, and then started our way back along the coast. Even though we were very well sheltered, I still got fairly burnt. Skipped past Ucagiz, spotting numerous Lycian tombs on the rocks and in the water. Not much for it except to snooze as we headed home - a lovely way to spend the day. Kas is a lovely wee town, but it was all too soon before we were off.” (A Scottish Couple from Fife.)
Kas is a world renowned locale for diving with a large number of dive centres offering a wide variety of dive spots and proficiency levels. Most of the travel agencies can book you on a dive, but we have decided that, as so many people visit Kas for the diving, we will put the Dive Centres in a special listing so they can also be contacted directly. Many of them have excellent websites.
“I came to Kas to have a scuba diving holiday after a six year break. At first I could hardly remember how to put my equipment together but the guys on the boat looked after me and soon I was like a fish in water again. The sea here is beautiful, teaming with life and with lots of special interest sites, shipwrecks, caves and canyons. I've dived in Bodrum and Fethiye but this was way better. The sea is clean and the visibility is great. Ý dived with Nautilus diving because they were cheap, and I was so happy with the way they looked after me. Ý came on my own, and they made me feel really welcome. After two weeks I didn't want to leave. There were more experienced divers on the boat, making deep dives and telling me about their experiences. I think I'll come back next year and take another course so I can do some too. Kas is a really friendly little town with a lot of ancient Lycian sites around I could recommend it to everyone. The best thing though is the sea!”

Diving in clear blue water. Kas, Turkey
It is a “truism” that the hardest thing about visiting Kas is leaving it. Many of us have experienced this feeling and so decided to buy a place and eventually come and live here. This has led to a lot of apartment and villa building in the last 10 years, especially on the peninsula (Yarim Adasi). There has also been a rise in the number of estate agencies so there are represented in these pages too! These agencies often deal with apartment and villa rental as well.
Estate Agents  >>
“Second home buyers have been attracted to Turkey primarily by the comparatively cheap property prices. It is possible to buy a one-bedroom apartment in Bodrum for as little as £35,000. Local agents claim the cheap property prices allied with a developing infrastructure position Turkey as a similar market to Spain’s in the mid-1980s. Like Spain a couple of decades ago, the growing market has developed largely unchecked, which means a certain frontier approach to development has pervaded. Maybe not too late, legislation has been implemented to control over development in some coastal areas. An edict preventing construction within 100m of the shoreline is intended to prevent encroachment and the despoliation of one the country’s greatest assets, its beaches.” Gordon Miller
