Turkey’s “first” and “only” public broadcasting corporation, the TRT was founded on May 1, 1964. The radio station that had started broadcasting on May 5, 1927 was now under the TRT umbrella. Taking us to different worlds when we hit the button or move the meter, radio, was joined by a new friend towards the end of the 60s: Television... Turkey met the television for the first time on January 31, 1968 through the TRT. With its 81 year radio and 40 year old television, the TRT is the living memory of the history of the Republic of Turkey. With its experience and responsibility, it is a monument of reliability and the symbol of our unity.
