Cycling

The Big Descent!
While Kaş is often a stopping off place for cycle tours of the Turkish coast, there are opportunities to hire bikes and go on organised cycle trips in the local area.
Kaş offers a great introduction to mountain biking with typically dry single track or forest fire track trails for novice riders, while also providing a more relaxing break for the experienced rider. Trails pass through areas with a stunning backdrop of mountains, valleys, streams, canyons, cedar forests and the ruins of ancient civilizations. En route there is lots of time for impromptu picnics and swimming stops, and the chance to experience the famous hospitality of Turkish village life.
Using a mixture of little used asphalt roads and backwater rough roads, descents usually come from the mountains back to stunning views of the Mediterranean coast. A fun and exhilarating day out, and most of it downhill! Full guided cycling with support vehicle always close behind with great views, exhilarating descents, and a variety of tracks which pass through cool forests and wide open meadows make for an excellent day's cycling

Exciting Descent
You can check out the various jeep cycling options with the travel agents in the town.
A Great day Out!
A great day out on two-wheels cycling on forest tracks, through villages and on quiet hard-top roads with little traffic. Being easy to moderate this tour is best suited to those who enjoy occasional days out on their mountain bikes at home. A support van follows the group to provide mechanical assistance if the need arises.
Beginning in the high meadows above Kas we cycle easy tracks to the villages of Gokceoren and Saribelen. Our route takes us to our picnic lunch spot shaded by a tree and close to a fresh spring. From here we make our way out of the mountains on easy tracks with a descent to the junction above Kalkan. Here we dismount, load the bikes and shoot off to Kaputas Beach for a refreshing swim, from where we return to Kas by vehicle.
We leave Kas at around 09:00hrs and just 45 minutes later bikes are issued and adjusted to suit our individual needs. Our cycling takes us through the villages of Gokceoren, where we pause for tea, and Saribelen. By 12:45hrs we arrive at our wonderful lunch spot, a peaceful place shaded by a tree and close to a spring.
An hour later we are off again descending to the junction
A Great Day Out
A Visitor's Experience
Little Used Backroads
Had a beautiful day of cycling along the coast today. I can't believe the colour of the water! I can see why it's called the Turquoise coast. Rugged cliffs plunge to the water below where waves beat the rocks into sand to create secluded little beaches. It would be wonderful to camp there sometime!
Arrived in Kas. By far one of the most picturesque towns we've seen so far. They must have a great influx of tourist money. But one of the most striking features here is the rock tombs carved into the hillside behind the town. These tombs are an adventure to discover. First thing after settling in, we went to investigate.
There is a flight of stairs leading off the road and then you're left to your own devices. Scrambling over rocks reminiscent of the 5a rock climbing routes I did in the Pyrenees, you never quite know where you're headed. But after a few minutes you're greeted with a glimpse of a tomb to spur you forward to discover the next. Clamoring over the rocks made me wonder about those to made the tombs. Hiking the tools up day after day. It was difficult enough climbing myself, let alone carrying a dead body up!”

above the pretty harbour-town of Kalkan. Here we dismount, load the bikes and shoot off to Kaputas Beach for a swim – perfect! From Kaputas it’s around 40 minutes back to Kas.
