Beaches
Kaş
Kas does not have a huge sandy beach which has possibly saved the town from the horrors of mass package tourism. However, there are numerous delightful places to swim in and around Kas.
In the town.
Within the town itself, many of the cafe's and pensions beside the sea have built wooden platforms on the rocks with comfortable low turkish style seating and steps for access to the water. They will serve drinks and snacks throughout the day and will do their best to ensure your comfort.
Just beyond the Police Station and Gendarmerie in the main hotel and pension area is the popular Kuçuk Çakıl Beach (Little Pebble Beach). Kucuk Cakil consists of a very small pebble beach and 2 cafe/restaurants situated on well maintained paved terracing. Both Derya Beach and Çınarlar provide comfortable sunbeds, plenty of umbrellas, music and waiter service for drinks and snacks etc. The sunbeds and umbrellas are free providing you buy something to eat or drink. Many visitors to Kas look no further than Cucuk Cakil which is a comfortable base for a day of sunbathing and swimming.

Further out of town from Kucuk Cakil at a distance of 2km lies another popular spot - Buyuk Cakil Beach (Big Pebble Beach). This is a beautiful scenic cove with 5 or 6 beach cafe/restaurants all providing sunbeds and umbrellas on the pebble beach. Again the sunbeds and umbrellas are free providing you buy something to eat or drink. The walk to Buyuk Cakil takes around 15 minutes up a hill and down the other side along the coast road, with stunning views over the bay and towards the Greek island of Meis. Buyuk Cakil is also a delightful place to spend an evening, eating seafood on the beach under the stars.
A 5 to 10 min stroll out of town in the opposite direction, towards the amphitheatre, takes you to Kas Camping, a small terraced camp site that is also a popular place to swim with locals. There is a cafe/restaurant providing the usual range of drinks and snacks, sunbeds and plenty of trees to provide shade.
Slightly further, where the Kas Peninsular begins, there is a very narrow neck of land with 2 small beaches – one on each side. The marina side has a cafe/restaurant and more sheltered waters.
A short walk outside town.

A drive or dolmuş (minibus) ride from town.
Approximately 5 km from Kas on the road to Kalkan is Goksekki beach. This beach has been developed by the local tourism college and is run by the students themselves. It has a good stretch of sand, sunbeds, umbrellas, a very reasonably priced cafe/restaurant, a children's playground, a water slide and plenty of tall trees providing shade. There is a good car parking area.
Half an hour's drive away, closer to Kalkan, is the beautiful Kaputaş Beach, a picture postcard sandy cove with stunning turquoise blue waters. However, be warned!! There are lots of steps down to the beach (and back up again!) and no facilities on the beach, so remember to take plenty of water and snacks with you!!

Limanaĝzı
In Kaş harbour there are frequent ferry boats to Limanazi, at the far end of Kas bay, where there are 3 beaches accessible only by boat. The ferry boats will wait until they have a group of people and then set off across the bay, calling at each of the 3 beaches in turn. You pay a fixed fee of 10TL for the return trip and get off at whichever beach you prefer. They are all fairly similar with a cafe/restaurant providing sunbeds and umbrellas and the usual range of drinks and food. The ferry boats return throughout the day, normally the last one is around 6pm. You simply go to the jetty and wait for the next one to leave.
